Adopt-a-Pipe

We have wonderful news to share. A music loving donor – who wishes to remain anonymous at this time – has pledged a cornerstone gift to FREO which allows us to begin the restoration of our national treasure, the magnificent 1868 Henry Erben organ, one of the most important historic musical instruments in the nation. Removal of the organ will take place in February 2024.

Our donor has challenged us to raise $500,000 in additional funds to meet contingencies during the project, including work which must be done in the choir loft. The donor has restricted this cornerstone gift to the restoration which will take 18-24 months to complete.

FREO offers you a unique method to participate in this historic effort. Please consider “adopting” one of the Erben’s nearly 2500 pipes, to be named for you, a beloved family member, or a respected music-loving friend. Donors may adopt an individual pipe, an entire rank, or a whole division of the organ for the ongoing care of the Erben for the next one hundred and fifty years.

Please contact us at [email protected] and check out PDF here for more information.

To make a donation online, please type in the amount in the text box to the upper right of this page and enter Adopt-a-Pipe under “Comments;” there is a field where you can make the donation “in honor of” or “in memory of.”
A certificate will also be provided to donors to mark their gift.
If you wish to donate by check, please make it out to Friends of the Erben Organ and mail it to:
