Erben Organ Days 2020: Organ Lesson & Tour for Make Music NY Day

Our second event for Worldwide Make Music Day 2020 / Erben Organ Days 2020 was a live-streamed organ class and Erben tour. Three talented young piano students participated in this class. Led by Basilica Organist and Music Director, Jared Lamenzo, the students explored the different colors of the pipe organ on the bench, talked about how organs are built, and enjoyed an exclusive look inside the magnificent 1868 Henry Erben pipe organ, the size of a NYC townhouse!

The fully-mechanical Erben pipe organ attracts admirers of all ages.

My son would live in a pipe organ if he could!

The piano is quite different from the pipe organ in the way it is played, so it was fun to try her piano piece by Tchaikovsky on the Erben!

We had so much fun in the organ loft that the students didn’t want to leave!

Thank you for organizing this wonderful event, both kids (and parents!) had a great time.

This young student demonstrated a deep interest and knowledge of pipe organs coming in, and was very excited to encounter the magnificent Erben.
